We are looking for an experienced Legal Cashier / Office Manager to join the accounts team of a highly respected and well establish law firm based in Westminster.

This firm has been recognised by Chambers and the Legal 500 for its impressive business acumen and ability to punch above its weight. They advise high profile clients on a range of maritime issues, regularly competing with likes of larger international firms with proven success.

Responsibilities

  • Month-end reporting – unbilled WIP/Billings/Aged Debtors/Payments/Receipts
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly management reports (existing software is lexis Nexis Axxia and experience of this would be advantageous but not essential since we may change packages soon)
  • Preparing VAT reports to relevant tax authorities and submitting online
  • Inputting all financial transactions for both office and client a/c in accordance with SAR rules
  • Managing the firm’s time recording system – checking and inputting all fee earner timesheets
  • Raising manual and computerised cheque payments, checking that there are sufficient funds available before processing
  • Liaising with Partners/fee earners/office administrator regarding placing funds on special interest-bearing accounts
  • Accounting for interest on deposit accounts and carrying out account closures
  • Carrying out Bacs/Chaps/same day Bacs/inter account transfers via bankline
  • Inputting of all office account bills
  • Payroll operation of in-house SAGE system
  • Overseeing file closure procedures and ensuring ledgers are zeroed before file closure
  • Coding of purchase ledger invoices and processing payments
  • Reconciling petty cash and postings
  • Yearend audit

Candidate Profile

  • Previous Experience as Legal Cashier
  • Knowledge of SARs and VAT rules
  • Knowledge of SAGE
  • Previous experience with WIP
  • Confident and able to liaise with partners
  • Team player and excellent communicator
