Innovative financial services organisation is looking to hire an ambitious lawyer with 2+ PQE to join their dynamic team based in Edinburgh.

Role Profile:

This is an opportunity to join a niche team that presents the chance to work closely with different people across their business to provide legal support and guidance. Every day will be varied and you'll play a huge part in helping the business achieve it's commercial and strategic objectives. We'll be relying on you to review, negotiate and draft a number of different commercial contracts; advise us on interpretation of legislation and the drafting of customer facing documentation; prepare board reports and other legal reporting and provide support on a number of different projects.

Additionally, the type of person we are looking for will be as follows:

  • You take an avid interest in the financial services industry and will be happiest when taking full ownership of your work and will be confident when it comes to making decisions.
  • You'll love to work with smart people and hate mediocrity;
  • You know there is almost always a better way of doing things even if it can't be delivered immediately.
  • Smaller teams, a flat structure, constantly learning, being challenged, having your own chunk of responsibility and being trusted to make it happen describe in a nutshell the environment you really thrive in.
  • You want to be part of a collaborative culture where you feel empowered but always know you'll never be left alone.

We've always placed more importance on values alignment above technical ability but in this role we'd really like you to:

  • At least 2 years PQE.
  • Ideally have worked previously in an in-house legal role, but this isn't a deal breaker.
  • Have experience working in a financial services, regulatory and/or a technology background.
  • Be brilliant at building relationships and influencing others.
  • Have experience of drafting and reviewing commercial contracts.
  • Be able to report and communicate legal information clearly to non-legal stakeholders.

On offer is a competitive salary and the chance to join a fast paced, challenging and always changing environment but one where we believe you will get the chance to fulfil your potential and do work that matters. All while being an important addition to a close-knit team you'll feel a part of right from the start.
