The senior legal counsel will ensure that a business critical arrangement / suite of arrangements are put in place to support Operations and IT strategies and that Operations, IT and Commercial/ Contracts teams are fully supported from a legal point of view with specific upcoming projects.

Description
- Advising on the structure and set up of the arrangement (s)
- Advising on, drafting and negotiating the necessary documentation (for example, outsourcing, procurement, IT agreements) as well as tender documentation and suite of agreements
- Collaborating closely with stakeholders including senior members of the shareholder teams
- Ensuring that the necessary agreements proceed through to execution including the relevant shareholder approval processes
- Working closely with the relevant business leaders including the CEO, CFO, GC, Director of Operations and IT Director and ensuring timely updates, escalations of issues and identification of risks to them.
- Contributing strategically and tactically to multi party discussions around technical and commercial needs
- Engaging with key suppliers
- Socialising appropriate plans and documentation to stakeholders both internal and external
- Managing external counsel, both in terms of managing resources and quality assuring outputs
- Providing trusted, proactive and pragmatic legal expertise
- Delivering commercially savvy legal advice
- Demonstrating skilled hands-on contractual drafting and dynamic negotiation
- Challenge the status quo, keep abreast of the external market and drive innovation, continuous improvements and learning as part of this project
Profile
Our client are seeking a creative and influential senior legal counsel and the candidate must have the following:
- A current practising certificate and 10+ years pqe as a commercial lawyer (solicitor or barrister) qualified to practice in England and Wales, of which at least 6+ years must have been served in- house in the UK
- Demonstrable and significant experience of drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and of complex stakeholder engagement in closing these contracts
- Demonstrable and significant experience of being the lead lawyer on multi million pound procurement and outsourcing deals
- An understanding of or interest in the telecoms sector
- Experience of innovation in a legal / contractual context
- An enjoyment of closing major ( multi-million pound) contracts and the negotiation and drafting of them
