This is a Head of Legal for Infrastructure/Construction, reporting into the Deputy General Counsel of an International Airport based in London. It is a non-contentious construction orientated role.

Description

The position holder will lead a team of Infrastructure/Construction lawyers managing the day to day technical and personnel responsibilities associated with the effective supervision of direct reports and trainees.

In leading on the provision of pro-active legal advice on construction, aviation, infrastructure, procurement, commercial and compliance law matters and the structuring of contractual relationships relating to those areas of law (with inputs in relation to financing/corporate requirements), the position holder will be responsible for the management of all people issues including the recruitment and performance of each direct report.

The position holder will:

  • undertake the provision of pro-active legal advice on construction, aviation, infrastructure, procurement, commercial and compliance law matters and the structuring of contractual relationships relating to those areas of law (with inputs in relation to financing/corporate requirements); and
  • lead on and carry out contract negotiations, drafting and reviewing construction, aviation, infrastructure, commercial and compliance documentation including (without limitation) reviewing, developing and producing standard form contracts and precedents utilising a deep knowledge and understanding of construction standard forms (eg NEC, JCT, FIDIC) contracting strategies (eg alliancing/partnerships) and current developments in delivery of national and international infrastructure.
  • Profile

    The successful candidate is likely to:

  • be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales with at least 6 years of post qualification experience.
  • Have experience gained within a law firm and/or other relevant company (NB: previous in-house or client secondment experience will be helpful but is not required).
  • have experience in working on and delivering large scale infrastructure projects.
  • be an expert in construction, procurement and commercial law.
