In-house Insurance Lawyer

A leading Lloyd's Managing Agent which underwrites a diverse portfolio of reinsurance and insurance business is looking to recruit a 2/3PQE solicitor with experience in a reputable City Law Firm or In-house team. The Legal Department provides legal assistance to the underwriting, operations and management business areas, regularly advising on a wide range of matters from high complexity corporate transactions to ad hoc reactive legal advice. It is also responsible for the Company Secretarial function and provides support and advice for all Group Boards and Committees.


The Role
You will advise the underwriting teams, claims handlers, senior management on policy wordings and product development and providing assistance to claims handlers with claims' queries and management of disputes, as well as advising on commercial contracts, company and corporate matters. Other areas of work will include assisting with employment and tax issues, company secretarial duties and with the handling of complaints. Aside from general insurance work, you will be exposed to a mix of drafting & negotiation commercial contracts and NDAs relating to the Insurance Act 2015. There is a small element of employment law matters and Company Secretarial work. You will be expected to interact with and provide high quality, commercially minded, pragmatic advice to company employees, senior management and board members.

Candidates
The ideal candidate will have 2-3 yrs PQE gained from leading City Law Firm or Insurance Firm with credible industry knowledge as well as some non-contentious commercial experience is preferred but candidates with other relevant experience will be considered.
