A leading global tech company is looking to hire an experienced data protection & privacy professional to be our next Privacy Counsel, based out of their Dublin office.
The role has a wide ranging brief and will involve close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on local and global privacy and data protection issues as well as to:
Main tasks:
- Oversee ADIR's response to Individual Rights Request
- Developing playbooks, policies, and processes
- Handling general privacy escalations
- Reviewing final subject access request responses
- Staying up to date on developments and interpretations of EU data protection laws and regulations
- Acting as a primary point of contact for EU customer care organization
- Evaluate the impact of regulatory and industry proposals
- Develop, review, and maintain user-facing and public-facing privacy terms and policies
- Work closely with HR and HR legal on privacy matters
- Review and advise on privacy impact assessments for projects processing EU data
- Advise on local sales and marketing campaigns and infrastructure
- Draft, review, and advise on data protection issues in vendor and customer agreements
- Key member of Global Incident Response Team, counselling on incident response preparedness and providing post-incident support
- Work closely with ADIR's DPO to manage internal compliance programs and processes
- Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to key stakeholders
- Act as an advocate for data protection and privacy internally, collaborating with the company's DPO and privacy team for developing and leading EU-focused internal training and building awareness across the company.
- Work closely with global privacy team and outside counsel on global privacy projects
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer in Europe and admitted to practice in Ireland
- 6+ years relevant privacy experience, including prior in-house or law firm experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of EU data protection laws and regulations and general familiarity with global privacy laws and regulations (including US).
- Familiarity and interest in new media and emerging digital technologies
- Strategic thinker with excellent legal and business judgement
- A detail-oriented, business-friendly team player who can think creatively
- Desire to learn, excellent judgment, fun spirit, and sense of humour
