Innovative tech start-up seeks part-time Commercial Solicitor to be its first and sole In-house Legal Counsel. Our client has a genuine social conscience and a range of products and services that help to create a positive social and environmental impact. Our Manchester headquartered client is an innovative tech start-up led by an award winning entrepreneur. The company has developed a number of products aimed at improving peoples' lives and creating a positive environmental impact. There are ambitious plans for further growth, investment and expansion, including internationally, and the company culture is progressive, inclusive and ethical.

To support the company as it enters an exciting phase of growth and expands it product and service lines, there is now a requirement for a Commercial Solicitor to join the group as In-house Legal Counsel.

Reporting directly into the CEO, the In-house Legal Counsel will be accountable for all day to day legal activities as well as project specific legal and commercial matters. This will include: supporting on commercial bids and tender processes; drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements; implementing and reviewing company documentation and legal material; conducting legal analysis; providing high quality advice on different legal issues; advising, instructing and managing external counsel; ensuring the business is compliant with relevant legislation; and picking up other ad hoc legal work as necessary.

Our client is looking for the In-house Legal Counsel to be commercially minded and capable of working autonomously in a fast-paced and growing start-up environment. You should be comfortable working with multiple and disparate streams of work at once, and you should possess a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Existing in-house experience is preferred although not essential. Experience working with start-ups or tech/software companies is also appealing.

This role is anticipated to be part-time (3 days / 22 hours per week) however our client is open to considering five shorter days.
