Our client has exceptionally strong relationships with financial institutions and infrastructure providers, including banks and investment banks, fund managers, custodians, insurers, reinsurers, exchanges, clearing houses and settlement systems. The client's group provides advice on legal and regulatory issues relating to the wholesale and retail businesses of these organisations. They also advise corporates on their use of US, UK and continental European financial markets. Our practice covers the full range of advisory work, new services and products, structuring, regulatory compliance, financial institutions M&A, outsourcings, securities, derivatives, regulatory capital advice and litigation.

This role will work with the current PSL to provide support to the financial regulatory partners and team on knowledge management and business development matters and to fee earners on client work.

Main areas of responsibility

  • Responsibility for maintaining and updating the financial regulatory developments blog which includes, drafting posts, reviewing posts drafted by juniors, amending once partner comments received, arranging for posts to be added to the site and collating posts into the weekly newsletter, at all times working with others involved in output for the blog which includes partners and associates in the US offices.
  • Various Knowledge Management tasks and projects, including capture, profiling, storage, retrieval and analysis of useful know-how and maintaining know-how bibles (electronically and hard copies)
  • Monitor market developments and maintain market awareness
  • Issue spot and lead in thought management related to developments and trends
  • Provide support to lawyers on client work, including working with lawyers in other teams and offices such as conducting research, liaising with local counsel or directly working with clients
  • Draft client notes, articles, prepare presentations for external conferences or client presentations/training and prepare briefing notes on current financial regulation issues
  • Responsible for the practice group intranet site, monitoring and maintaining the website
  • Assist with business development initiatives by providing content support
  • Assist with collating experience lists, researching high profile regulatory speakers for client dinners, maintaining the pitch and events databases, inputting on directory and award submissions and arranging for the client contact database to be updated and maintained
  • Work with the Professional Development team to develop training schedules and modules for the London team
  • Client work required on an ad hoc basis

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Experience

  • UK qualified solicitor, NQ to 2-3 PQE, preferably in similar financial regulatory team but not mandatory

Other

  • Collaborate with PSLs in other practice groups in both the London office and offices globally
  • Assist partners in running the London team by acting as a point person on various matters
