The Role
Reporting into the Consumer Claims Team Leader you will be responsible for managing, oordinating and processing consumer legal challenges from customers in Germany and Austria which occur as a result of operational disruption or denied boarding, assessing cases to determine whether they should be legally challenged.
Working alongside lawyers covering various other European jurisdictions and liaising with German external counsel you will help to ensure the business is aligned with developments in the area of consumer claims. Responsibilities will include:
> Managing and defending consumer claims relating to Germany and Austria;
> Drafting various court and ADR documents necessary to protect EasyJet's position, with the opportunity to draft Defences;
> Instructing and liaising with EasyJet's internal and external legal representatives to ensure co-ordination of cases and settlements / judgements;
> Providing advice and training to the wider business by identifying key learnings from previous cases, formulating recommendations in conjunction with key stakeholders to improve processes, compliance, cost effectiveness and value for the company;
> Supporting the Disputes Team and advise customer service on EU 261 legislation and other consumer law enquiries from national regulatory and enforcement bodies;
> Maintaining databases and systems to ensure consistency and accuracy of information relating to disruptions of flights; and
> Providing ad hoc advice on other German legal matters as required.
The Person
You will be a German-qualified commercial lawyer or experienced paralegal with strong English and German language skills. Prior aviation sector experience would be a benefit but is not necessary, with the required training and guidance able to be provided to the successful applicant. Any contentious experience in consumer/civil litigation or aviation-specific claims would also be a benefit but is not essential.
This is a fantastic role for a German-qualified commercial lawyer to join an exciting and fast-paced sector with an industry leading brand.
The Package
A competitive salary, up to 20% annual bonus and 5% non-contributory pension is on offer. Easyjet will also cover 50% of train tickets, making this an ideal role for lawyers based in London or the surrounding areas.
