Legal Counsel (Real Estate Finance/ Asset Finance)

About the Legal Counsel role:

A great opportunity for a junior lawyer to gain experience from working directly with the banks General Counsel, supporting the business in matters pertaining to real estate finance (specialist mortgages, property development), asset finance and savings. There is a broad spectrum of work and the ability to engage directly with various, supported business lines.

Key Responsibilities.

• Ensure the bank's business processes meet all applicable legal or regulatory requirements and mitigate legal risk in line with the bank's risk appetite
• Support the General Counsel in the drafting, negotiating and reviewing of relevant documents for the organisation
• Advise the business on changes that could impact risk, in relation to consumer credit, property finance and asset finance
• Oversee a broad variety of work across the business.

Your key skills.

As the legal counsel you will ideally have 1-3 years experience either in private practice or a financial services in house position (although a different level of qualification would be considered if you meet the requisite skills). A background in either real estate finance, banking, asset finance are beneficial and consumer credit experience would be an advantage but not essential.
