OTC Proprietary Indices Lawyer - Multi-Asset Role
A leading global bank with a primary emphasis on Investment Banking and Global Markets activity, our client has evolved to be one of the foremost banks for derivatives. Their prominence in this space has led to the development of a market-leading proprietary indices desk.
The Legal Department has a particular emphasis on structuring and deal facilitation matters and the lawyers with an OTC derivative specialism rove across fixed income, equities, credit, fx, commodities and funds asset classes. Thus, all lawyers have a primary focus (a desk for which they are nominally point-person) and a number of subsidiary focuses.
The need has arisen for the bank to hire an additional derivatives lawyer who will take on a portfolio of work involving a high degree of ownership of the proprietary indices element with wider breadth provided by a plethora of other asset classes. There will also be some exposure to the setup of (generally UCITS) fund wrappers.
You will be involved heavily in the structuring process and the quantitative nature of the product-base means Structurers tend to be from numerate disciplines and to require a greater degree of advice and support in relation to legal, regulatory and reputational risk factors.
With a strong backbone of experience in OTC derivatives, ideally with some exposure to proprietary indices and related products or to fund derivatives, you will have between 4-10+ PQE gained in part in a major Magic or Silver Circle or top US law firm.
In-house experience would be welcomed, however, the structuring focus of the position typically calls for a high degree of technical proficiency so that technical ability is at a premium.
Danos Associates acts as an Employment Agency with respect to permanent positions. PQE is referenced as a guideline only.
