Commercial Legal Counsel 2+ PQE

This global and highly regarded law firm based in London is currently recruiting an Associate to join its General Counsel team. As part of the Risk and Compliance department the General Counsel team provide advice and options on the legal risk and responsibilities of the law firm to the firm and its management team.

This person will deal with issues pertaining to business transactions with third party suppliers and will advise the London based LLP and the global network of member firms on major new contracts. They will identify legal issues and risks and ensure commercial and operational terms are accurately reflected in the contractual terms. In particular the specific risks related to regulation, information security, data protection, intellectual property, and practice policies and procedures. 

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years + post qualification experience with training from a top-tier private practice firm or large corporate environment. In-house exposure during or post training is a definite advantage. You will need to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

• Negotiating and drafting information technology agreements including software and system development and licensing, SaaS and other cloud related work or real estate/facilities agreements
• Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts such as NDAs, software licensing, outsourcing agreements.
• Knowledge of IP, data protection and privacy and understanding implications of GDPR
• Able to review documents drafted by third party suppliers and quickly identify potential problem areas
