An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Research Contracts Manager to join a highly reputable Higher Education Institute that is based in the Home Counties and commutable from London.

This position is offered on a permanent basis with a salary of £32,500 – £36,500 (with additional performance related pay up to £43,821).

It is desirable that candidates possess experience of working within a Research Institute or University. However, those possessing relevant Contracts experience in other sectors will also be considered.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and negotiating the terms and conditions of a diverse range of research contracts and agreements with conflicting critical pathways, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure that they do not expose the University to unreasonable risk and to ensure that they comply with the University's status as an educational charity, current legislation, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Using own knowledge of the law and drawing on best practice from across the higher education sector, the post holder will be required to interpret terms and conditions, assess the potential risks associated with each contract and, where necessary, to draft effective and pragmatic alternative terms and conditions which protect the University's business interests, often in a complex context, coordinating several parties in order to bring about a successful conclusion.

This position is suited to Contracts Specialists who are keen to develop their knowledge as part of a small, knowledgeable team within a new department. Whilst Qualified Lawyers are encouraged to apply this is not a requirement for this post.
