Legal Counsel - Leading Bank- London
The Bank is growing rapidly and there is greater demand for internal legal advice and support and the purpose of the Legal Counsel is to support to the General Counsel and to provide the additional legal resource required to ensure that, as the Bank grows, the Bank can continue to meet its commercial objectives and effectively manage its legal risk.
The ideal recruit will assist the General Counsel with the following:
- Advisory - Assist the Bank to achieve its commercial purposes
- Policy - Sustain the Bank's Legal Risk policy
- Change in Law - identify any relevant changes in regulation
- Data Protection - Providing legal and technical support in relation to applicable data protection law and regulation
- Customer Arrangements - Ensure that the Bank's customer facing agreements and terms and conditions meet all valid legal or regulatory requirements
- Contentious - Provide effective legal advice and support in relation to litigation and disputes.
Qualifications/Experience
- Qualified solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales
- 2 to 6 years PQE with a reputable law firm or in-house legal team
- Banking / financial services - with experience in one or more of savings products, asset finance, mortgages and property finance (consumer credit would be an advantage but not essential)
- Commercial contracts
- Contentious work - litigation and complaints
- Corporate law would be an advantage but not essential.
