This newly-created role would suit a qualified solicitor – perhaps a commercial litigator or regulatory lawyer – who is looking for a different focus.

Reporting into and working closely with the Head of the unit as well as with key senior members of the firm and external compliance consultants, you will help to ensure that the firm complies with its regulatory responsibilities. You will also assist in designing and delivering operational improvement strategies to ensure efficiency across the business.  

You will be responsible for advising the wider business on legal matters involving data protection, anti-money laundering, Lexcel and the SRA, amongst others.

This role would suit someone with around 3  to 5 years’ PQE. Some experience of risk and compliance matters would be beneficial, although it is not essential. What is more important is the ability to identify and understand the challenges affecting legal services providers and to assimilate what are often complex issues and communicate them in a user-friendly and commercial manner.

Compliance roles are rarely open to junior solicitors, so this is an excellent opportunity to move into a growing area.
