Locum Commercial Lawyer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Lawyer to join a Higher Education Institute that is based in the East Midlands.

This position is offered for an initial 3 months with a likelihood of extension at a rate of between £30 - £40 per hour (Umbrella).

It is desirable that candidates possess experience of working within a Research Institute or University. However, those possessing relevant Commercial and Contracts experience gained in other sectors will also be considered.

The post holder will be responsible for:

- Reviewing and negotiating the terms and conditions of a diverse range of research contracts and agreements with conflicting critical pathways, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure that they do not expose the University to unreasonable risk.

- Using own knowledge of the law and drawing on best practice from across the higher education sector, the post holder will be required to interpret terms and conditions, assess the potential risks associated with each contract and, where necessary, to draft effective and pragmatic alternative terms and conditions which protect the University's business interests, often in a complex context, coordinating several parties in order to bring about a successful conclusion.

This position is suited to Commercial & Contracts Specialists who are keen to work as part of a friendly, knowledgeable team. Whilst being a Qualified Lawyer would be advantageous, those who are not qualified but possess relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
