We are recruiting for a highly motivated and professional Solicitor/ Legal Executive with 3+ years PQE to join our busy and well established in-house legal team to review and provide advice in respect of commercial contracts. You will be the first point of contact for the team and will be expected to deal with enquiries within a timely manner and run your own matters. Reporting to the General Counsel, this is an interesting in house counsel role which will require a “hands-on” and flexible approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, amend and draft various types of commercial agreements including IT agreements, cloud agreements, master service agreements, professional service agreements, service level agreements, supplier agreements and various terms and conditions;
  • Review and or draft NDA’s; 
  • Assist the General Counsel in providing advice to the company on commercial contracts and other ad-hoc advice
  • Assist where required putting in place systems, processes, policies and procedures and subsequently maintain the same
  • Manage and escalate any legal risk or employment law issues to General Counsel;
  • Various administrative duties in accordance with the role (including document and contract management);
  • Assist with the acquisition of new companies and harmonise contracts.

Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will be a qualified Legal Executive or Solicitor with solid commercial contracts experience (approx. 3+ years PQE), gained in-house or within private practice (stated PQE is for guidance purposes);
  • Employment law experience and procurement experience is highly desirable;
  • Corporate and M&A experience will be useful;
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work cross functionally and interact confidently with multiple stakeholders;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills;
  • The ability to prioritise, manage time effectively and work to tight deadlines;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure;
  • Highly proficient in MS packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; have experience or be willing to learn to use a document management system
  • Team player – understands the importance of teamwork;
  • LLB and LPC qualified (or equivalent).

Location:            

Although the role is based at the OCSL Headquarters in Wisborough Green (Guildford 30 minutes, Horsham 20 minutes), you will be required to travel to our Cambridge office at least twice a month. Travel to other locations may also be required.
