A highly successful West Midlands business, commutable from Birmingham and Coventry, is looking for a legal counsel to join their in-house team and focus on data protection, privacy and GDPR matters.
Responsibilities of your new role
As legal counsel your primary responsibilities will include:
- Advising the business on developments in data protection and the potential impact on the business;
- Dealing with data protection requests and queries from throughout the business;
- Project assistance – advising on data protection aspects of projects (which can range from one off queries to in-depth engagement throughout the lifecycle of a project);
- Reviewing and signing off projects, and attending workshops to provide data protection advice;
- Monitoring and advising on data risk across the business;
- Reviewing and assessing the application of data protection impact assessments, data protection policy, privacy notices and legitimate interest assessments; and
- Design new training on data protection and raise awareness throughout the business.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
The in-house team are looking to speak with legal counsel candidates who can demonstrate:
- Desire to move into this area or already pursuing specialism in data protection.
- Fully qualified with 2-6 years PQE.
- Strong training and experience from either private practice or in-house.
Salary and contract
This legal counsel role in the West Midlands is offered on a permanent, full-time basis and is paying £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on your experience.
