Legal Counsel – Construction

A specialist engineering company in the North West of England are looking for a legal counsel with non-contentious construction experience to join their in-house team. The business is commutable from Manchester, Preston and Liverpool and the legal counsel role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities of your new role

As legal counsel you will be joining a leading international engineering company providing installation, servicing and technical advice to clients in a range of industry sectors. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Reporting into the UK Sales Director, as well as the Head of Legal;
• Advising on complex construction and engineering projects; and
• Drafting and negotiating various construction and commercial contracts.

Required skills, experience and qualifications

Individuals applying for this legal counsel position will ideally demonstrate:

• Full qualification and around 2-6 years of PQE.
• Sound knowledge and experience of handling standard form construction & engineering contracts. This can include NEC, FIDIC, JCT etc.
• Construction, projects or engineering background.
• Commercially aware, pragmatic, down to earth, and comfortable assuming some level of risk in a contract.
