Commercial Legal Counsel

A small but experienced in-house team are looking for a 3+ PQE legal counsel to join them in Coventry on a full-time and permanent basis. The legal counsel will focus on GDPR and data protection, having substantial involvement in the growth of the business.

Responsibilities of your new role

The successful legal counsel will have primary duties including:

• Providing advice on contractual matters;
• Advising and taking the lead on GDPR and Data Protection matters;
• Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (including IT and software licences);
• Advising on litigation, management and settlement;
• Interacting with directors, managers, and commercial teams;
• Advising on intellectual property, compliance, regulatory, and employment matters; and
• Managing relationships with external lawyers.

Required skills, experience and qualifications

The in-house team want to speak with legal counsel candidates who:

• Possess broad commercial experience, either in-house or in practice;
• Have Experience of advising on GDPR (or willingness to pick up);
• Are fully qualified with at least 3 years of PQE;
• Confidence to challenge and manage relationships with stakeholders;
• Advantageous but not essential to have experience with IT/software businesses

Salary and benefits

The legal counsel will be offered £55,000 - £65,000 per annum. Sensible working hours, autonomy, and ample opportunities for career progression are available for the right candidate.
