THE ROLE
The Legal Team is currently seeking a qualified solicitor or barrister with 4pqe+ to join as an in-house Legal Counsel.
The role will involve providing legal representation for the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers and business partners, assisting with relationship management.
You will also be involved in liaising with external legal counsel and implementing their advice.
Your role will include raising the level of awareness and understanding in the business of legal issues, risks and mitigation, including contract management.
ABOUT YOU
A lawyer with 4pqe+ you will have strong communication skills, enabling you to act as a trusted adviser and business partner, who will play a full role in intra-departmental activities
Ideally, you will have experience of general insurance work, either in a law firm or in-house with an insurance company, although individuals with a strong regulatory background will also be considered.
You will be involved in handling issues on terms of business, policy documentation, distribution and affinity agreements, outsourcing and services agreements, panels, pools, brokers, agents, reinsurance, novations and commutations.
You will need good day to day knowledge of Financial Services regulatory bodies and practices including ICOBS, PERGS, introducer appointed representatives and financial promotions.
Some knowledge of other regulatory/compliance aspects e. passporting, FSCS, FOS, Solvency II, data protection, competition law (e. Block Exemption) and IT work is advantageous.
With a 2:1 degree or higher you will be a proactive self-starter with excellent relationship building skills, confident at managing external advisers and with a strong work ethic.
