Reed Legal are currently seeking an experienced Temporary Lawyer or GMRA Negotiator for our client's legal team for a 4 month contract based in London. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the key aspects of financial regulation relevant to repo and derivatives markets and at least 2-3 years' experience in negotiating GMRA and/or ISDA Master Agreements and related documents.
Responsibilities
Managing a caseload of repo (GMRA) and other financial markets documentation, including negotiating new and updated Master agreements with counterparties in compliance with the organisation's policies and standards
Undertaking legal analysis of counterparties and their legal structures, capacity and authority and netting analyses (including reviewing underlying jurisdictional opinions as necessary)
Documenting discussions and following up on action points
Working with internal stakeholders, responding to internal questions and summarising key issues
Carrying out other legal contract activities as required, including review of existing financial markets documentation, terms of business, NDAs, supply agreements and other types of legal agreements
Assisting with other legal team activities as required
Experience and Knowledge
At least 2-3 years' experience in negotiating GMRA and/or ISDA Master Agreements and related documents.
Experience with debt capital markets and other legal documentation, although not required, is desirable.
An understanding of the key aspects of financial regulation relevant to repo and derivatives markets.
Familiarity with financial market infrastructures such as clearing systems and central counterparties and different categories of financial market participants.
Skills
Strong legal technical and analytical skills. (Although a legal qualification is not required, it is desirable, with a preference for an English qualified lawyer.)
Strong inter-personal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Strong negotiation and resolution skills.
A proactive self-starter who is able to take the initiative.
Well-organised and able to prioritise, with strong analytical skills and an eye for detail.
