A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an in-house commercial lawyer to join a very successful technology business based in Yorkshire.

This In-House commercial role not only illustrates potential to develop into a managerial and decision-making role, but will lead the successful candidate to assess contract clauses and weigh up the legal considerations, providing alternative solutions and making recommendations on the best course of action.

To ensure that the business can handle an increased legal workload associated with multiple contract negotiations, the successful in-house commercial lawyer will be required to demonstrate their ability to negotiate, draft and advise on a range of commercial contracts including, but not limited to, SaaS contract clauses (e. liability clauses), as well as assess Intellectual Property (IP) clauses, utilising experience in IT / software licensing contracts to take into account IP considerations. The business also will also require the successful commercial lawyer to utilise their knowledge of SLAs, penalty clauses and provide advice on acceptability of clauses, when to omit clauses, when to augment clauses to provide the requisite levels of protection, as well as provide advice on Compliance and Standards issues, such as GDPR, ISO27001, SOC 2.

Based in West Yorkshire, this position is for an in-house commercial lawyer from private practice or in-house who is in the region of NQ-2 years'* qualified with demonstrable background in commercial contracts and IT/IP law. Whilst support from the two senior lawyers will always be provided, the successful Legal Advisor should be confident that they are able to work independently. In addition, it is important that the Legal Advisor can gain a good understanding of difficult legal issues quickly and have excellent commercial acumen.

This In-House commercial role benefits from a competitive salary, and the successful candidate would be working as part of a small but fast-paced, fun, sociable and collaborative legal team.
