Our client is a leading US headquartered innovative technology based consumer business with an ambitious growth trajectory in the EMEA region. They seek to recruit a bright lawyer to join their growing UK Head Office in Central London. Building on their immense success in the US, this business has somewhat the feel of a start-up in the UK but is rapidly expanding its provision across the EMEA market and correspondingly building a formidable Legal and Compliance function. They are looking for a lawyer to play a key role on legal matters relating primarily to the UK and Ireland but also further afield depending on personal interest and business demand.

Reporting to the Associate General Counsel EMEA, you will be responsible for providing legal services related to the regulatory environment, advising relevant internal business partners on appropriate procedures and strategy. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a deep understanding of the Company's business and products and the applicable regulatory requirements and regimes;
  • Drafting documentation to help comply with corporate/commercial/regulatory requirements, best practices and industry standards applicable to Company products and operations, including supplementing such materials with day-to-day guidance;
  • Identifying legal/compliance gaps or risk areas and work with executive and business team members to develop and implement appropriate-scaled programs to address them;
  • Structuring and negotiating business relationships, transactions, and overseeing a wide variety of strategic alliances and business development activities;
  • Drafting, review, analysis and negotiation of contracts, memoranda and other legal documents;
  • Working collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders to develop and maintain strong working relationships between legal, finance, product, commercial/marketing, people services, operations, regulatory and supply chain;
  • Advising on advertising, claims and permitted promotions and review of point of sale materials.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years' commercial / regulatory law experience gained from a leading UK law firm / relevant in-house role working with clients in the FMCG / healthcare / tobacco industry sectors.

Fluency in an additional language is a bonus but not a pre-requisite. This person will be an excellent communicator and thrive in a fast-paced internationally focused entrepreneurial environment and be comfortable in dealing with senior stakeholders and commercial teams from throughout the business.
