Interest is urgently sought from ambitious junior disputes lawyers with a mix of litigation and arbitration experience for the Hong Kong office of our premier international law firm client.
Regarded as having one of the leading disputes offerings of any global firm in the region, they are very experienced in handling big ticket, cross-border litigation in areas such as investment and commercial banking, professional negligence, project and finance, construction, cross-border employment, fraud and M&A as well as advising on major commercial arbitration/ADR matters and complex regulatory investigations. As well as their highly regarded domestic litigation practice, they have a leading arbitration/ADR practice, and generally act for multinational energy clients in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand on cases which involve oil, gas or power projects across the region. T
The ideal candidate have somewhere between an NQ-2yr PQE gained at a top tier litigation practice with a strong technical skill set and be admitted in Hong Kong or major common law jurisdiction. Mandarin language skills are highly preferable but not absolutely essential, depending on the calibre and pedigree of the applicant and commitment to building a long-term career in Hong Kong. Key Responsibilities will include:
- Drafting witness statements, expert reports and pleadings;
- Running processes on significant cases and acting as lead associate on specific tasks;
- Assisting on and running document reviews;
- Drafting letters/emails to client and other side;
- Attending mediation/settlement discussions and draft settlement agreements;
- Delegating to and mentoring of junior associates and trainees;
- Participating in seminars/training to clients and other associates;
- Establishing your profile and relationships with partners and clients.
Academically strong with a sharp intellect the successful applicant will be tenacious and enthusiastic litigator, confident in their ability and in possession of a strong team ethos. Furthermore, you will be comfortable taking instruction and responsibility and be looking to raise your profile as your experience develops on a range of cross-border, big-ticket disputes.
