Senior Legal Counsel - Automotive - South West - New Project

Your new role
As the lead lawyer, you will have experience in company commercial law and the automotive industry. You will work as part of a cutting-edge automotive business but also as part of the group legal team, building and developing relationships across the wider business.
You will be providing advice to the automotive business to establish strategies for legal advice, aligned to navigate complex output and delivery processes. In addition to providing expert and pragmatic advice and support across the business, you will be responsible for the day to day management of a more junior lawyer, and will work closely together to deliver on exciting and challenging projects. You will work with suppliers, support tender processes, manage risk and undertake internal training. As with many in-house roles, you can expect to turn your hand to other areas outside of your remit!
What you need to succeed
You will have a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a commercial role, and an ability to apply that knowledge in a practical and pragmatic way. In-House OR Private practice experience will be considered however it is essential that you have automotive industry experience and that you are proficient in drafting, reviewing and negotiating on commercial contracts i. IT, suppliers, customers and procurement. Experience of supervising/mentoring more junior members of staff would be desirable.
You must have good awareness of the role of the legal function in a large business and have the ability to contribute actively in the taking of key business decisions. An appetite to learn new skills and the versatility and technical ability to deal with issues outside of your experience and learn quickly on the job is desirable; you will also possess the confidence and gravitas to challenge decisions and actions when required.
