This is a great opportunity to work on a high quality caseload for a variety of clients on fast & multitrack, large loss and catastrophic personal injury claims.
Team Information:
The division is recognised for their specialist expertise in defending insurance liability claims including personal injury matters, from small through to large loss employers' and public liability, and motor claims. The division also handles catastrophic injury and occupational disease related matters as well as medical negligence and fraud related issues. There are a number of teams within the Chelmsford office whom handle multiple areas of Personal Injury law. These teams are headed up by the below Partners:
Jennifer Harris
Jennifer Harris is a partner based in our Chelmsford office. She qualified in England and Wales in 1993. She has significant experience defending liability claims. Jennifer acts for insurers, self-insureds organisations and third party administrators. She personally manages large loss cases including severe injuries such as brain and spinal injury, amputations, vegetative state or altered consciousness, polytrauma, brachial plexus injury, chronic pain and loss of senses. Jennifer’s team handles RTA, EL/PL, Catastrophic & Large Loss and Travel Sickness claims.
Andrew Caplan
Andrew is a defendant personal injury and dispute resolution lawyer acting for a range of insurers, local authorities, FTSE corporates, high net worth individuals and clubs. He qualified in England and Wales in 1997. Andrew is regularly instructed in large loss and catastrophic claims acting on behalf of insurers dealing
with both employers’ and public liability claims including brain and psychiatric injury, spinal injury, amputations, fatal accidents, and multiple orthopaedic trauma. Andrew also represents a range of local authorities handling employers’ liability, public liability and highway matters, as well as abuse matters. Andrew’s team handles EL/PL, Property Recovery, Occupational Disease, Catastrophic & Large Loss, Travel Sickness, Abuse, and Ministry of Defense claims.
Tracy Head
Tracy is a partner in our London office. She qualified in England and Wales in 1989 and specialises in defending liability injury matters.Tracy represents insurers and handles employers’, public and product liability matters. She advises on the full range of serious, complex and catastrophic personal injury claims, including stress, bullying, harassment, brain injury, amputations and paralysis. Tracy’s team in Chelmsford handles EL/PL, Catastrophic & Large Loss, Travel Sickness claims.

- UK Qualified Solicitor, Foreign Qualified or CILEX qualified with the relevant experience.
- Strong Academics.
Desirable:
- Would consider a strong Foreign Qualified Solicitor with the relevant experience.
Experience:
Essential:
- Defendant personal injury experience. Claimant will be considered.
- Experience of fast track and/or multi-track claims experience.
- Able to run own caseload with some supervision.
- Experience of personal injury work.
- To have had previous client contact and attendance at business development events.
