What we do

We provide compliance and risk management support to meet the needs of our law firm clients. We are currently expanding and looking to add to our compliance experience pool. We are looking for a full-time Compliance Officer who can maintain the level of excellence we currently supply to clients, along with supporting the Director in further developing the business.

Non-Negotiable:

  • Must have legal compliance experience. Degree of ability to work independently will dictate salary.
  • 2years minimum years 

Compliance Officer duties include

There would be some flexibility to design a role to suit your strengths, but your core duties will include:

- Meeting with new clients, discussing their needs and designing a compliance package to support their requirements;
- Drafting Policies, Plans and Registers tailored to individual clients to ensure best practice;
- Completing file reviews for clients, summarising results and making recommendations for improving undesirable behaviour;
- Keeping up-to-date with all developments and notices put out by regulators, the Law Society and other Legal Press;
- Creating update notices to keep our clients informed;
- Drafting, updating, improving bespoke policies;
- Dealing with compliance queries from clients by advising through clear and precise statements;
- Helping firms achieve specific professional accreditation for Lexcel, CQS, etc;
- Assisting firms with various memberships;
- Supporting firms in professional indemnity and practising certificate renewal;
- Drafting and delivering training to all levels of personnel within a legal practice.

Compliance Officer core abilities and experience include

- Experience in a legal compliance role (at least 5 years);
- Familiarity with the Code of Conduct and relevant legislation as well as recent developments in the law and regulation that will affect compliance - e.g. GDPR, Criminal Finances Act 2017, AML, Cybercrime, etc...
- Familiarity with Accreditations such as CQS and Lexcel;
- Understanding of risk assessment performance and how to mitigate against risk;
- Knowledge of managing risk - e.g. reviewing files, keeping registers and drafting compliance plans;
- Ability to provide expert advice and support to law firm clients;
- Experience with providing external compliance training;
- Policy drafting ability;

Legal qualifications desirable but not a prerequisite;

Key Skills qualities
