Job Title: Commercial Legal Counsel
Salary: Up to £55,000 Basic
Location: Merseyside
Douglas Scott are working with a leading manufacturer in the FMCG space based within the North West region. The business, who operate internationally, are looking to add a Commercial Legal Counsel to their small in-house team to support in a varied role across all areas of the business.
Working closely with an experienced Head of Legal, the chosen candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Providing advice and guidance across the business on a wide range of matters including Commercial, Corporate, Intellectual Property, Data Protection etc…
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating high level standard and bespoke commercial contracts (IT/Supplier/Distribution/Outsourcing/Sponsorship etc…)
- Assisting with some Company Secretarial work such as producing board minutes, undertaking the filing requirements for all UK companies, managing director appointments/resignations.
- Handling some early stage commercial disputes for the business
- Regulatory horizon scanning for relevant legislation and ensuring compliance procedures are implemented and adhered to avoid regulatory action for the business (e. Modern Slavery, Bribery Act, GDPR etc…)
- Providing legal and compliance training to staff across the business, from front line sales staff to C-Level Executives.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified solicitors from 1-5 PQE will be considered.
- Candidates with either Private Practice or In-house backgrounds will be considered but it would be beneficial if you have experience working for or with businesses in the FMCG sector.
- Given the nature of the work, the ideal candidate will come from a company/commercial background but different legal backgrounds will be considered if the candidate is deemed to have the right transferrable skills.
