A large public sector organisation based in central Manchester are seeking to add a Contracts Paralegal or Legal Executive to their team for an interim assignment of at least 3 months.

This organisation has an international presence. They work with over 100 countries across the world and have both Charity and Non-Departmental Public Body Status. This is an unrivalled opportunity to work with such a large and diverse organisation outside of the capital.

This role will suit a paralegal who has worked for 6 - 12 months in commercial contracts law with a regional law firm or an in-house legal team specialising in commercial, procurement or intellectual property matters. The LPC would be advantageous.

The purpose of the role is to manage contracts and procurement enquiries made by the business, providing tailored advice and guidance that allows the organisation to pursue and deliver on business opportunities and minimise its exposure to risk

Duties will include:

  • Providing a customer-focused contract management and procurement advisory services to a range of internal clients/
  • Contribute to the delivery of high quality procurement and contract management policies, protocols, systems and processes
  • Providing advice, guidance and challenge to colleagues on enquiries to ensure the business receives the support it requires on a range of procurement, compliance and contracting issues

The ideal candidate will have good commercial contract legal knowledge but more importantly is able to use their theoretical knowledge in order to support the wider business. Project management experience would also be of interest.

Experience of contract management and an understanding of UK contract law will be essential to being successful in this post. You should also be competent in a range of IT systems (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint etc) and have knowledge and understanding of using the procurement principles.

Applicants will need to be able to advise and support the business with commercial contracts enquiries, using their own knowledge, as well as having to draft and negotiate contracts without Solicitor guidance, therefore confidence in commercial law is important. The post holder will also need to provide basic procurement advice.

The hourly rate on offer is £17 per hour (umbrella/limited). This is a full time post, working Monday to Friday each week (36 hours in total).
