Corporate Associate / Senior Associate Manchester - This is a rare opportunity for an experienced corporate solicitor to join a national practice which is able to offer quick progression to the right candidate who may be experiencing difficulties in taking the next step with their current firm. Our client is looking for someone to help spearhead their corporate M&A offering. No following is necessary - only a solid network of contacts and the ability and drive to network and business develop with the existing members of the wider corporate team.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE

• Salary: £50,000 - £65,000
• Reports to: Corporate Head of Department
• Previous experience: 4 PQE + - Candidates should have already built a successful career especially in corporate M&A. You may already have a following, but it should be stressed this is not necessary. The firm is looking for the right candidate who they can support to really drive their corporate M&A offering.

THE EXISTING CORPORATE TEAM

The firm already has a well-established corporate team in Manchester advising on the full spectrum of corporate matters including 'big ticket' IPO work. However, this is not what they are seeking to develop. Due to the way the team is structured and the programme they have in place in terms of succession planning a gap has appeared for an experienced M&A corporate solicitor to drive this side of the business.

This is a crucial position within the team and the wider Manchester office as the other departments within the office already have an established network of contacts which they can exploit in terms of corporate instructions. However, they require an experienced corporate solicitor to harness this potential.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SKILLS CRUCIAL

Given the firm's existing network and presence in the market, an established following is not required. Though a strong technical background from a respected practice is certainly important, as mentioned above, this role has developed due to a gap emerging at a more senior level and the firm. The right candidate will therefore ultimately be someone with strong business development skills and an established corporate network.

SUPPORT FROM THE REST OF THE TEAM

The team has already devised a strategy to support the successful candidate by affording them introductions to existing clients and intermediaries with a view to cross-selling the corporate services of the firm. You can be sure of the full support in helping you to build your own offering and a career towards Partnership.

THE RIGHT CHARACTERISTICS

The ideal candidate will be an experienced corporate solicitor with a particular specialism in corporate M&A and / or private equity. They will ideally come from a respected firm within the Manchester market. The key however, will be their ability to business develop and grow a team. Perhaps you are currently at another national firm and are struggling to make the next step up in your career. Perhaps you feel you do not have a sufficiently developed or portable following. Either way, we are keen to hear from you.

Our client is looking for someone with whom they can work together and develop the corporate offering further in Manchester. This will encompass a clear roadmap in terms of progression and (for the right candidate) a route to Partnership. The salary package on offer is excellent.
