Paralegal - Actions Against the Police and State Team​

Our Actions Against the Police and State Team is ranked as a tier 1 firm in Chambers and specialises in cases involving abuse of police power and breach of the civil liberties of groups and individuals.  There is expertise in all aspects of abuse of power and misconduct, such as harassment, false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution, discrimination, inquests, public inquiries and breaches of human rights and data protection. 

We are seeking to recruit a motivated and capable paralegal to work within the Team.

The role will consist of:

  • assisting with case preparation;
  • undertaking legal research;
  • document management;
  • processing evidence;
  • initial enquiries;
  • completing funding forms with clients;
  • client and witness contact;
  • attending at court and conference;
  • financial and billing assistance;
  • as well as general administration.

Skills & Experience

Legal experience, in particular of police actions and human rights law, is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant will need to work well within a team, and be able to take responsibility when working individually.

This role would suit someone completing a law degree, GDL or LPC on a part-time basis. The post holder may ultimately be considered for a training contract at the firm subject to satisfactory performance and completion of the LPC (although there can be no guarantee of this).
