A central London NHS Trust are seeking an interim Legal Adviser. They are a group high-performing group of NHS Hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation and for providing safe and compassionate care to their patients. The purpose of the role is to provide legal advice to the Trust on inquests, personal injury, clinical negligence, Court of Protection and medico-legal matters.
Your new role
The holder of the role will co-ordinate the defence of all personal injury and clinical negligence litigation, assess inquest cases and collate evidence for Coronial investigations. The Legal Advisor will assist both the Head and Deputy Head of Legal Services with medico-legal advice, carry out legal research into more complex/contentious issues and represent the trust as an advocate at inquest hearings.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered, you should have a high degree of practical experience of providing legal Court advocacy (preferably at inquests as per desirable criteria, although equivalent advocacy experience will be considered). You should have experience of giving medico-legal advice to clinicians and experience of independently researching and giving advice on areas of law. Finally you should have prior extensive experience of running large clinical negligence and/or personal injury caseloads.
