Our client is a prestigious and well-established law firm, able to trace its roots back to the 1800s. Over time the firm has grown its client and won several awards. With a view to building upon previous successes the firm is looking for ambitious and passionate candidates to apply.

They are looking to recruit an Assistant Financial Accountant to join their Legal Finance team. The main responsibilities of this role are assisting the Finance team with accurate reporting, analysis and dealing with all day to day aspects of the Financial Accounts function.

Responsibilities

  • Help to manage the firm’s monthly balance sheet position through the Practice Management System (Aderant) including maintenance of appropriate controls and undertaking reconciliations to supporting ledgers
  • Assist with the preparation of the LLP’s annual statutory accounts and related information and support the external audit review on behalf of the firm
  • Maintain the Fixed Assets Register, post the depreciation journal and carry out monthly reconciliations to the Practice Management System
  • Support the record-keeping for partner tax and capital reserves and help to prepare regular funds statements for the Equity Partners. Liaison with the firm’s bankers in respect of partner loan arrangements where applicable
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual partnership tax computation and PAYE settlement agreement, including supporting appendices and analysis of general ledger accounts
  • Provide support to the Management Accountant including completion of regular legal surveys, and Office for National Statistics submissions
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the overall Finance department which includes looking for opportunities to improve processes and proactively engage with change projects to deliver improvements to the wider business
  • Work closely with the Financial Accountant to ensure that all work is completed in line with deadlines, regularly manage upwards and report any risks or concerns

Candidate Profile

  • Part-qualified accountant or looking to study towards ACCA or CIMA
  • Experience of working in professional services, particularly legal industry preferred
  • Strong Excel skills a requirement and experience with wider MS Office applications an advantage
