A local authority legal team in South Wales is seeking to add a Prosecutions Locum to their team whilst they recruit to the post permanently. This locum role is expected to last 3 to 6 months and is offered on a full time basis.

You will be responsible for conducting prosecutions on behalf of the Council as well as handling licensing appeals and representing the Council in Tribunals and Inquiries.

Licensing will form a key part of your caseload. You will be responsible for advising the Licensing Committee and be expected to supervise junior members of the team in this area.

It is important that you have:

  • A qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX and a current practicing certificate (or ability to obtain once)
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work well in a small team, taking initiatives and being proactive
  • The ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the role and council
  • Knowledge of local government prosecutions and licensing law
  • Experience undertaking advocacy in the Magistrates and County Courts

The role is due to start asap and is expected to run for a minimum of 3 months. An hourly rate of between £30 - £40 per hour (inside IR35) is offered for this post.
