Our insurance & reinsurance practice is recognised internationally as an industry leader. Through our integrated global network of offices, we offer a comprehensive range of dispute resolution, transactional and regulatory legal services to the insurance sector, including insurance and reinsurance companies; policyholders; captives and mutuals; brokers and other intermediaries; managing agencies and MGAs; TPAs and other service providers. Our insurance and reinsurance work is high value, likely to be complex and multi-party, and often international in nature.

We have a specialist insurance and reinsurance team of 20 partners and more than 40 lawyers. In addition, we have an extensive network of legal contacts, experts and correspondent firms whom we can mobilise, as required, worldwide. We pride ourselves on our in-depth industry knowledge and legal expertise. Several of our partners have worked directly in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities
The role will be varied and include:
- Review and analysis of Spanish documents including court documents written in Spanish.
- Liaise with (typically Spanish) lawyers in other jurisdictions.
- Translate documents from Spanish into English and from English to Spanish.
- Assist the Partners and Associates involved with work in Latin-America on business development activities, to include planning and attending events, conferences etc.
- Write and contribute to articles for relevant publications.
- Support Partners and Associates involved with work in Latin-America to establish and develop relationships with Latin-American organisations.
- Client case management.
- Open and close matter files in accordance with standard office procedures.
- Maintain and develop the Latin-American client contact database.
- Deal with internal and external clients with professionalism and consideration.
- Work as part of a team with other members of the Group, assisting with telephone cover as and when required.
- Provide assistance with client billing, including time recording.
- Organise internal and external meetings, including booking conference rooms, lunches and refreshments.
- Ensure all filing is accurate and kept up-to-date.
- Generally assist the team as and when required with paralegal and administrative duties.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Must be fluent in Spanish. Portuguese would be beneficial but not necessary.
- Strong GCSEs and an expected/obtained 2:1 degree (or equivalent) or relevant equivalent experience.
- Fluent in either Spanish or Portuguese, with excellent grasp of English.
- Previous experience in a law firm would be beneficial.
- Demonstrable experience in commercial disputes.
- Excellent communication - able to communicate with internal and external clients in a confident and assertive manner. Also able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
- Time management - able to work to tight deadlines, ensuring a high standard of accuracy, prioritising work between fee earners.
- Client service - dealing with queries from internal and external clients in a professional, polite and considerate manner.
- Good organisational skills.
- Team player.
- Strong IT skills (packages currently used: Word, Outlook, FileSite, PowerPoint, Excel, SmartStyles, InterAction, Deltaview, BigHand Digital Dictation, Arista, FEDT), although training will be provided.
- Flexible with regard to working hours (normal working hours are seven working hours between 9.30am and 5.30pm).
