Our client, a leading global banking and financial services organisation, is looking for a lawyer to join their office of Legal Obligations. It is a 6-month contract and they are looking for a Financial Services and regulatory lawyer with around 5 years PQE
The role will be responsible for providing legal services to the organisation. Your aim will be to improve the control environment regarding the laws and regulations of the firm therefore the role requires talented lawyers with a regulatory awareness and background.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate on cross-functional teams to develop and maintain Legal Obligations for the organisation's businesses in the UK and other EMEA countries.
- Collaborate with line of business lawyers to review changes in laws and regulation to determine applicability and impact to the company.
- Liaise with line of business lawyers to respond to questions from the business and corporate functions about Legal Obligations and their impact on particular business lines, products or legal entities.
- Instruct and liaise with external counsel, as required.
- Conduct gap analyses on the completeness and accuracy of Legal Obligations under EU and UK laws and regulations.
- Develop subject matter expertise on products and services offered by the organisation
- Assist with the development of policies, procedures and controls.
- Work with Compliance, Risk and other internal control functions to identify and implement process changes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Participate in legal and other firmwide projects.
Requirements
- English qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' experience obtained in private practice or in-house at a financial institution.
- Background in EU and UK financial regulatory law and knowledge of the FCA and PRA rules.
- Familiarity with French, Luxembourg or Italian legal frameworks.
- Fluency in French or Italian.
- Confident communicator across all levels including speaking to external clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
