IP Lawyer - Newcastle

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior IP Counsel to join a global technology company based in their Newcastle office.

The successful candidate will protect and manage the company's Intellectual Property. Responsibilities will include advising the business on transactional IP matters; drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal agreements ensuring the adequate protection and management of intellectual property assets; provide support for the internal processes for trademark watch, clearance, renewal, opposition and litigation on a worldwide basis; advise the business on domain name clearance and disputes; manage copyright registration processes, and advise on open source software use and licensing. You will contribute to IP awareness raising through training, communications and relationship building, including production and updating guidance and self-service material for colleagues. You will work collaboratively with other teams within and outside the Legal function to ensure effective and fully aligned end-to-end legal support to the wider business colleagues on cross-functional projects.

Applicants will have experience of trademark management including filing, monitoring, opposition and clearance activities; practical experience of managing IP disputes and litigation. Ideally you will have gained in-house experience in an innovative multi-national environment, particularly in the software/technology sector.
