A global FMCG Brand with an established and extensive legal function are seeking an experienced Commercial Technology Lawyer to join their Commercial IT team and support the organisation on a range of specialist, international Commercial IT Transactions and Projects.

A global FMCG organisation that owns some of the worlds most recognised Consumer Brands with an established and extensive legal function based in Central London.

Description

The role of the Legal Counsel-IT will include the following:

  • Structuring, negotiating, drafting and advising on execution of IT transactions, including infrastructure, outsourcing, resourcing, consultancy, software licensing, maintenance and support
  • Identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risk in proposed and operational IT commercial arrangements (including in connection with data, data protection, IT security, intellectual property, HR and compliance)
  • Advising on the escalation and resolution of contractual disputes
  • Advising on supplier exit strategies and plans and related contract terminations
  • Providing guidance on the application of Group and Functional policies, procedures and governance in relation to proposed and operational third party and intra-group IT commercial arrangements, including Delegated Authorities and Contract Approval Policies
  • Instructing and managing external legal counsel, reviewing output, controlling and approving spend
  • Supporting ad hoc IT projects and transformation programmed arising
  • Delivering internal training and awareness sessions for IT and the Commercial Legal Department on a variety of commercial and risk management topics, including intellectual property for IT and Standards of Business Conduct

Profile

Suitable candidates for the role of Legal Counsel-IT will have the folliwing skills / experience:

  • UK or equivalent qualified lawyer with a strong post qualification experience, gained either in an international law firm with in-house secondment experience, or as in-house counsel for a FTSE100 company or other major multi-national
  • Significant experience and expertise in commercial and corporate law and practice, with a proven track record of advising on complex outsourcing and other arrangements
  • Strong negotiation and project management skills, and ability to plan, anticipate and manage priorities to optimize output and enhance the effectiveness of commercial solutions throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Fast and flexible attitude sound commercial judgment and ability to work under pressure and to cope with unexpected and varied demands
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence, with the ability to build trusted relationships with peer and senior stakeholders
  • Keeps up to date with changes in technology law and procurement best practice in order to ensure that IT transactional structures, documentation, and contract management remain current and commercially appropriate
