Description

The Securitisation and Derivatives Lawyer responsibilties are:

  • To proactively monitor key regulatory, market developments and disseminate to fee earners in particular teams and, where appropriate, to the wider PG, always considering business development potential and the impact on standard forms, practice notes etc;
  • To enhance knowhow collections and proactively seek knowhow contributions from fee earners, engaging fee-earners at all levels and encouraging competence in the use of knowhow systems and resources;
  • To develop and update practice notes and other knowhow "toolkits" and resources, working with fee-earners to identify areas of work offering the most value-add to the relevant practice area, and to ensure the most effective level of input from fee-earners;
  • To work effectively across, as well as within, Global Transactions and the other practice group Knowledge teams, to coordinate work, minimise duplication, manage risk, share practical tips and ensure that work product is optimised.

Profile

The Securitisation and Derivatives Lawyer will:

  • Have a very sound knowledge of law and market practice in own field and appropriate level of knowledge of relevant legal issues in others.
  • Be a self-starter with the aspiration and commitment to continuously acquire, build on and share knowledge, able to act as a Knowledge champion and a role model.
  • Have sound judgment, and be able to establish a high level of credibility with colleagues and external stakeholders. Have the ability to act as a sounding board for fee earners, capable of identifying the key elements of complex problems, directing fee earners to appropriate legal or market source materials, and considering the practical nature of advice when proposing a solution, including the risks. Be able to support fee earners in their decision making process on challenging issues, participating confidently in the analysis as a trusted adviser (for eg, in the securitisation practice, this would include drafting and contributing to risk retention analysis on transactions).
  • Have excellent oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
  • Show strong written communication skills in legal drafting and when writing in other styles, and the ability to judge content, style and tone for written work as appropriate to the audience.
  • Be a team player who builds effective relationships at all levels, recognised and respected by partners and other fee earners and by other K team members in Global Transactions and across the firm. Demonstrate a collaborative approach when working with others. Act as an effective mentor to, and delegate to, Knowledge Assistants.
