Litigation Solicitor

A London based local authority is looking to take on a Litigation Solicitor for a period of 3 months initially with the view to extend subject to the review of work.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide high quality legal advice on a broad range of litigious matters in one or more of the following areas:

• Social Care Debt Recovery: advising on matters relating to adult social care involving powers of attorney issues, assess cases, advise clients and issue civil proceedings where necessary
• No Recourse to Public Funds: advising client officers in work relating to the above, draft robust responses to claimant solicitors and defend threatened/actual legal challenges
• Judicial Review and General Litigation: handle local authority criminal proceedings, advising clients upon Housing Act 2004 matters, drafting court documents including information, indictments
• Attend Magistrates' Court as the advocate in related proceedings

The successful candidate need not be a qualified Solicitor if they have experience of the above and are able to undertake advocacy unsupervised.
