Senior Legal Counsel

A well-established, privately held insurance company with over 5,000 employers and legal team’s based in Hampshire and London are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join them in-house. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Hampshire – though there is potential to be based in London instead.

Responsibilities of your new role

Joining as a Senior Legal Counsel within a team of 7 lawyers, you will deal primarily with insurance regulatory matters as the business has a separate commercial legal team. In this role, your key duties will include:

• Liaising with key stakeholders daily and confidently advising the business
• Drafting insurance-based agreements, TOBAS, contracts
• Dealing with product development
• Liaising with underwriters and the claims team
• Keeping abreast of regulations
• Liaising with the FCA
• Advising the business on regulatory and governance matters. 

Candidate requirements

The business requires an In-House Counsel who demonstrates:

• An insurance background, ideally in-house
• Familiarity with the regulations affecting this sector
• 6+ years of PQE

The legal team is based in Hampshire so ideally the role would be based there however, there are also offices in London so there may be flexibility with regards to location.
