Debt Litigation Locum

As a Debt Litigation Locum your will run a varied caseload of non-standard secured litigation claims, including deceased matters under limited supervision. You will work as part of the Technical Team and assist other team members in all aspects of their caseloads.

A Legal 500 top tier firm. They are one of the largest specialist firms in the UK. The position will be based in their Leeds office. They require a Debt Litigation Locum to join their Leeds team.

Description

As a Debt Litigation Locum you will run your own cases and assist other fee earners within the Technical Team with their caseload, undertaking tasks such as:

• Dealing with all aspects of cases from pre-issue to enforcement;
  
• Liaising with clients in writing, by telephone and in person when required;
  
• Understanding the client's objectives and ensuring they are met by providing sound and concise legal advice;
  
• Negotiating with debtors, next of kin, their solicitors and other third parties to maximise the net recovery level achieved for the client;
  
• Drafting documents, including claim forms, statements of case and witness statements;
  
• Managing a case load under minimal supervision
  
• Dealing with correspondence in an effective and professional manner;
  
• Dealing with cases in the absence of other fee earners;
  
• Undertaking research;
  
• Dealing with invoicing and client reports;
  
• Maintaining a high and consistent fee income through time recording and fixed fee tasks;
  
• Instructing Counsel and local court advocates;
  
• Attendance at court and client meetings;
  
• Ensuring all internal and external SLA's set in relation to your caseload are achieved.
  

Profile

Working as a Debt Litigation Locum you will be:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent (preferably in law); and/or
• Be a qualified Solicitor or CILEx qualified;
• Have an understanding of the legal environment;
• Hold defended litigation experience; and
• Have excellent IT skills.

Job Offer

£20,000-£36,000 Salary dependant on experience
