Our client is a rapidly growing law firm with around 900 lawyers across 23 offices in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. They are a full-service firm operating in business areas such as Corporate, Employment, Technology and IP.

They are looking to recruit a Financial Controller on a 12-month FTC. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant and have prior experience of Management Accounts and KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Building strong working relationships and close interaction with individual practice areas and key stakeholders across the business to ensure that financial information is understood and appropriately communicated
  • Providing insight and analytics to aid commercial decision making
  • Pricing and strategic contract decision-making support including follow up implementation and regular monitoring of margin and profitability of these contracts
  • Challenge current ways of working, driving efficiencies and cost savings wherever possible
  • Regular provision of management financial information and analysis, including monthly "snapshot" or flash results, to the stakeholders across the firm including Partners, Finance Director and other stakeholders
  • Support to the annual revenue budget and reforecast exercises
  • Analysis and support of key strategic decisions and investments and challenge practice area leaders and business group directors to ensure that all concepts have been properly considered
  • Provide input and ad hoc support as required in terms of cost, margin and profitability analysis
  • Assist with year-end audit, particularly on WIP valuation side
  • Responsibility for consultant commission budgets and periodic calculations for individual statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as necessary
  • Preparation of firm wide presentations on financial performance
  • Preparation and delivery of fee earner training and updates on financial matters
  • Provide financial analytical support to strategic investment projects including post implementation reviews and performance variation analytics

Candidate Profile

  • A Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to influence stakeholder decisions
  • Prior experience of Management Accounts and KPIs is essential
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data in an easy to under-stand format
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • Advanced level Excel skills
  • Experience of Aderant Expert (preferred)
  • Experience of E-billing (preferred)
