Dudley MBC is seeking an experienced commercial contracts specialist who is driven, dynamic and keen to make a difference for those who live and work in the Borough.

The Contracts Solicitors Legal Team form part of the Chief Executive Directorate within the Law and Governance Service are and this position is for a Contract Solicitor/Barrister. The team undertakes a wide range of contract law advice, alongside drafting policies, protocols and procedures. We are seeking to recruit the post below to enhance the service offered to our clients.

A flexible and enthusiastic individual is required to take up this post, reporting directly to the Principal Solicitor. The successful applicant will undertake a broad range of legal work particularly related to the delivery of projects. This can include providing general contract law advice to the Council's Directorates. The ideal candidate should be experienced in the law relating to contracts and have the skills necessary to manage a caseload of files. Daily tasks will include drafting legal documentation for complex projects and routine cases, litigation, providing in-house legal training, and assisting in the drafting of policies, protocols and procedures. Drafting, negotiating and approving contracts will form a large part of the duties of this role.

The post-holder must possess excellent communication skills and be able to prioritise work efficiently. You will have the rare opportunity to work closely with your client department, so must be approachable and open. You must hold appropriate professional qualifications, cope well under pressure, and be prepared to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative.
