Your new role
A Legal Counsel role within the company's Consumer legal team, reporting to Head of the team, as part of a team of 10 lawyers. You will work closely with the business to advise on implementation of new and existing product and advertising campaigns, considering consumer rights, contracts and the customer proposition. You will provide valuable strategic counsel on managing risk and ensuring compliance with the likes of OfCom, Advertising Standards Agency and other regulatory frameworks. Additionally, you will provide know-how in looking outside the box at making the department as efficient as possible, learning as much as possible about the strategic and operational aspects of adding value in-house.


What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified lawyer, not restricted to UK qualification but ideally with significant UK based experience. While experience with consumer legal matters (including exposure to advertising standards, unfair contract terms and subscription orientated product matters) would be beneficial, the company is happy at this level for a more generalist commercial lawyer with advertising/marketing sector experience to come on board and be reskilled in the consumer matters. Experience managing both internal and external stakeholders (including relevant regulatory bodies) will be a bonus but again lack of such experience is not a deal breaker. Proven in-house experience within subscription related industries such as television, telecoms and utilities would be looked at with great interest.
