A major South East Legal 500 and Chambers ranked practice is recruiting for a Risk and Compliance Lawyer to join their Kent based team on a permanent, full time contract.  

About the Role

As the Risk and Compliance Lawyer, you will take on a broad and varied role covering all aspects of risk and compliance. You will be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Identifying, analysing and providing high quality advice on conflicts of interest and confidentiality issues
  • Advising on all aspects of money laundering, including client due diligence
  • Assisting in the development, drafting and implementation of the firm's policies and procedures
  • Undertaking internal audits to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and quality standards
  • Advising on all aspects of the SRA Handbook
  • Analysing risks and trends and prepare feedback and reports
  • Delivering risk and compliance training
  • Supporting the handling of claims and complaints.

Your role will be key in supporting the Head of Risk and Compliance with embedding a compliance culture within the firm.

Candidate Requirements

The successful lawyer is likely to have:

  • Around 3 years’ PQE (Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive)
  • Proven experience of advising on conflicts of interest, including information barriers and confidentiality
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Money Laundering Regulations and financial sanctions regime
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of the regulatory framework and the SRA Handbook 2011, specifically the Code of Conduct
  • The ability to identify, analyse and evaluate the risk impact to the firm
  • Proven experience of taking a commercial and risk based approach to compliance
  • Project management experience (advantageous)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work well within a close-knit team
