One of the biggest success stories in Fintech is scaling its legal and compliance department and is looking to add firepower to their financial regulatory capability.  The business has identified three distinct areas which required dedicated support from lawyers with strong financial regulatory experience: payments, consumer credit and investment & wealth.

The Role(s)
This business is disrupting the banking sector in a big way, and their innovative approach, allied with an increasingly complex and demanding legal and regulatory environment, provide outstanding career opportunities for lawyers motivated and driven by a dynamic, fast-paced culture.  Day-to-day responsibilities might include:

• Ensuring that appropriate regulatory policies, procedures and controls are established, and maintained
• Managing and coordinating any regulatory examinations
• Keeping abreast of changes to regulatory requirements and proactively handling regulatory developments
• Reviewing marketing materials in relation to financial promotions assessments 
• Navigating complex regulatory frameworks to design innovative financial products and services
• Identifying and drafting necessary changes to systems and procedures to meet the requirements of new rules/regulations
• Drafting agreements, policies and procedures, disclosures, account documentation and website materials]

In addition to the following role-specific responsibilities:

Payments
• Helping to advise on applicable payments and e-money related regulatory issues and launch any new payments-related products in the UK 

Credit
• Advising on SME and consumer credit-related issues
• Advising on the launch of any new credit-related products in the UK and Europe

Investment & Wealth
• Helping to structure and launch a commission-free trading platform

Requirements
• 2+ years' PQE as a private practice lawyer dealing with financial services at a recognised law firm (and preferably) some in-house experience as well
• Deep knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements specific to the role (CONC and the Consumer Credit Act OR MiFID II)
• Ideally, previous experience in retail-focussed products
