Our client is a highly regarded Legal 500 UK law firm with an enviable competition litigation team acting in high profile competition cases in the UK and Europe.

A business analyst is now sought to join the team in Leeds to review and research regulatory decisions and the market. You will join as a business analyst to assist the competition litigation team in this interesting and specialised area of law. The team regularly act on behalf of major enterprises that have been adversley affected by cartels or abuse of a dominant position; specifically identifying and advising on potential cartel damage claims.

The team has cutting edge expertise in this rapidly developing field and areas of work include:

  • Analyse regulatory decisions to consider whether they give rise to substantial potential damages claims

  • Determine whether such claims are actionable in England

  • Analyse the structure of the downstream market of the cartelists and its participants

  • Identify from within that market potential substantial claimants

  • Contacting claimants with a view to signing them as clients and then pursing the claims

As a business analyst your role will be working alongside partners, associates and the team's economist director to streamline and add effectiveness to this process and in particular the research function.

Ideally you will have a good academic profile, be highly numerate and have practical work experience gained in either a financial institution or an economic/research consultancy. You will be highly proficient with complex datasets and have a good working knowledge of Excel. It will be beneficial if you have experience gained from a legal background but it is not essential to this role.
