Kennedys are looking for a Knowledge Lawyer to work in their London office. The successful applicant will be working as part of a small centralised Knowledge Management team to assist Kennedys UK lawyers at all levels to access the knowledge and technical training they need in order to maintain a high standard of service offered to the firm's clients.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and supporting a knowledge sharing culture - Supporting and encouraging knowledge sharing activities and behaviours across groups and teams, through e.g. understanding knowledge needs and implementing solutions to surface specific expertise, specialisms and insights; developing communities of practice; developing and growing online knowledge hubs/repositories
  • Knowledge collection - Gathering, reviewing and organising collections of useful knowledge for Kennedys lawyers, including managing the process of capturing and disseminating such knowledge across the firm
  • Reviewing, updating and drafting standard documents - Reviewing and where necessary maintaining standard documents, templates, checklists, etc. to assist lawyers in delivering a consistently high quality of service to clients
  • Knowledge systems – Managing, developing and maintaining the firm’s knowledge systems – reviewing and publishing knowhow, maintaining taxonomies and feeding into knowledge system improvements and developments
  • Training - Working with lawyers at all levels and across all practice areas alongside the team’s Knowledge & Learning Executive, to identify Kennedys lawyers’ legal technical training needs and reviewing/developing training materials where required
  • Current Awareness - Monitoring specific legal developments to help ensure Kennedys lawyers are kept up to date with relevant developments in the law, practice and procedure
  • Projects - Driving/contributing to various ongoing knowledge projects and initiatives

Skills and experience

  • Civil litigation experience/working knowledge of CPR essential
  • Strong legal drafting skills
  • Strong legal research skills
  • The ability to communicate complex issues with clarity
  • Good technical skills (Microsoft applications as a minimum) and a demonstrable interest in technology solutions
  • Previous Knowledge Lawyer/Practice Development Lawyer/Professional Support Lawyer experience an advantage
  • PQE: 5+

The Team

This Knowledge Lawyer FTC role is based in Kennedys centralised Knowledge Management team, who collectively provide knowledge services, information/research services and organise legal training for lawyers across all of Kennedys UK offices. This is a small, productive team and the successful candidate will be expected to be a strong player and work collaboratively with the other team members including the Knowledge & Learning Executive (to identify and deliver solutions to meet Kennedys lawyers' legal training needs) and the Knowledge & Information Manager (to deliver various knowledge projects/initiatives) as well as proactively building strong relationships with lawyers and Partners at all levels.
